Here Comes The Sun – How To Get Your Home Ready For Summer

After months of snowstorms, high winds, hailstones and driving rain it’s finally time to hang up those winter coats and gloves and break out your summer clothes and accessories. Of course, it makes sense to get ourselves ready for the warmer months ahead with summer dresses, sandals, holidays, days out and sunscreen at the forefront of our minds. However, worryingly many homeowners neglect to get their homes in order before the stifling temperatures hit. Leaving them struggling with inadequate air conditioning units, overgrown gardens, dirty BBQs and stained windows. So, with this in mind, we've gathered some simple tips and ideas to help you get your home ready for summer.

Get your AC unit checked

Your air conditioning unit can be the difference between stifling and uncomfortable summer days or cool, relaxing months where you can enjoy the best of both worlds. The last thing you need is to find out your air-con isn't working as well as it should during a hot summers' day. Getting it looked at now, will ensure that it is fixed in time before the hot weather arrives and you won't be stuck at the bottom of a waiting list. Clean your BBQ and tools

Summer is all about BBQs and hosting family and friends in your back yard. And there's nothing more frustrating than planning a BBQ and finding it covered in dirt and grime from last summer! Take some time to clean all the components of your BBQ separately, and don't forget all the tools you're going to need.

Clean your windows

Watermarks, grime, grease and dirt all like to collect on the windows of your property. So, when the sun finally starts to shine through them, you won't get much of a view! Hire a window cleaner to tackle all that grease and grime for you. Or create your own window cleaning solution and tackle them yourself.

Empty your freezer

Burgers, sausages, ice cream, lollies and ice cubes! You’re going to need as much room in your freezer as possible. Get rid of anything that looks like it may have spoiled or is no longer suitable to eat. Chip away any excessive ice that might affect it’s performance and use the extra room for all your summer treats!
